FLUSHING, Queens (PIX11) – Police are searching for a man accused of trying to kidnap a 3-year-old girl from her day care in Flushing on Monday, according to the NYPD.
The man entered the day care on Leavitt Street close to 5 p.m. He allegedly told the day care staff he was picking up the girl, said her name and that her father was running 20 minutes late, according to authorities.
The staff wouldn't release the child to him as he wasn't listed as one of her emergency contacts, per police. The man allegedly said he would wait outside for her before he ran from the scene.
The child stayed inside the day care and was safe, according to authorities.
