STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A gunman shot a machete-wielding man in the chest during an apparent road rage incident on Staten Island Wednesday morning, police and law enforcement sources said.
The machete holder, 45, confronted the man near Vineland and Grantwood avenues at around 9:30 a.m., according to the NYPD. The man, 50, then shot the machete holder in the chest, sending him to the hospital in critical condition, police said.
The shooter remained at the scene and charges were pending, police said.
Authorities believe the two men were involved in a road rage incident that sparked the violent encounter, according to police sources.
