STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) – A machete-wielding man who was shot in an alleged road rage incident on Staten Island this week is facing a slew of charges, according to the NYPD.
Sidney Rivera, 45, faces multiple counts of assault, criminal possession, menacing and criminal mischief. He allegedly used the machete to smash another driver's window Wednesday, according to authorities.
The driver then got out of the vehicle, pulled out a gun, and shot Rivera in the chest, police said. Rivera was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The man who shot Rivera stayed at the scene and has not been charged.
