LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana police commissionerate on Friday arrested three individuals, including an autorickshaw

driver

, for the gang

rape

of a 20-year-old woman. On December 19, the woman had taken the

auto

to reach her workplace at around 6 am.
However, the driver and his two

accomplices

, who were already present in the auto, took her to an isolated place and subjected her to gang rape.

The accused then dumped the girl at the spot and fled with her mobile phone.
The woman walked from that spot to the main road and sought help from passers-by to call the police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rural Jaskiranjit Singh Teja stated that initially, the woman’s parents were hesitant to file a complaint due to social stigma. However, the police counseled them as the woman also wanted to file a complaint.

“Many people were rounded up, and the three accused were identified,” said Teja.
