“He has passed all the fitness tests and is in the probable XII for the match. He is looking good and is ready to bowl again,” bowling coach Morne Morkel said on match eve.

MI hold the penultimate spot among the 10 teams playing the IPL.

According to head-to-head stats, LSG have dominated MI. Though LSG may seem to have the upper hand, MI, however, are desperate as they need to win all their remaining five matches to keep their playoff hopes alive.

On the other hand, Lucknow will also be eager to add two crucial points to their tally of 10 to keep their chances strong. LSG won back-to-back matches against Chennai Super Kings, both at home and away, but then lost their next match at home to table-toppers Rajasthan Royals last Saturday. LSG put up a fighting total of 196 but RR chased it down easily, thanks to the batting efforts of skipper Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel.

LSG’s skipper KL Rahul has been in form, smashing three halfcenturies this season, and he will look to be aggressive against MI to lay the foundation for a good total. Another top-order batter, the off-colour Quinton de Kock, will be eager to find form against MI.

All-rounder Marcus Stoinis played brilliant innings against CSK but went back to the pavilion for a duck against RR. But then he was impressive with his bowling
and claimed a crucial wicket in one over against RR. His contribution could be vital against MI.
All-rounder Deepak Hooda too seems to have found form, smashing a half-century against RR. His role as a batsman is crucial for LSG. Devdutt Padikkal has not performed well but designated finisher Nicholas Pooran has to step up.

As for MI, they have been struggling since the beginning under new captain Hardik Pandya. If they lose two more matches, they will be out of the race.
