LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) -- A Lower East Side grandma loves to cook, but she said she can’t while she waits for her kitchen sink to be replaced and repairs to be completed.
The brother of 63-year-old Silvia May, who lives at the LaGuardia Houses, sent PIX11 News a video of his sister. Leviteen May reached out, hoping to move things along. It's about brotherly love, said May and her delicious cooking.
May told PIX11 News she’s had this slop sink for nearly three months. She says crews came to replace the cabinets and the sink but didn’t come back to finish the job. Now, this grandma who lives to cook—it’s pure agony.
PIX11 News immediately reached out to NYCHA, and a spokesperson told PIX11 they are on it:
NYCHA staff have coordinated with the resident and will be visiting the apartment to install a new sink and cabinets tomorrow. Residents in need of assistance are encouraged to call the Customer Contact Center at 718-707-7771 or submit work tickets through the MyNYCHA application.
