New Delhi: In a not-so-subtle message to ticket aspirants, especially incumbents seeking another opportunity to contest Lok Sabha polls,

PM Modi

on Saturday said BJP's symbol "lotus" is the party's

candidate

in the contest, and asked the cadre to work with full strength irrespective of the candidate and achieve the target of winning 370 seats for the

party

and 400 for NDA.

Urging party workers to focus on "development-centric" agenda and not get distracted by the opposition's "divisive politics of tu tu main main (recriminations)", Modi said, "370 is not merely a number for BJP... Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee made the ultimate sacrifice for abrogation of Article 370, preserving our nation's unity and integrity. As a tribute, BJP aims to secure victory on 370 seats, each representing his legacy." BJP passed a political resolution, endorsing 10 years of Modi govt and likening it to 'Ram Rajya', which will lead to a developed India by 2047.
Addressing office-bearers minutes before the National Council meeting at Bharat Mandapam, Modi exhorted the cadre to launch a campaign to reach out to beneficiaries of central welfare schemes.
My tenure as PM, CM has been aarop-mukt and vikas-yukt: Modi

PM Modi on Saturday said he has been the head of a governmentt for nearly 23 years - including more than 12 years as Gujarat chief minister- and there has been no allegation of corruption. "It has been an 'aarop-mukt' and a 'vikas-yukt' period," he said at BJP's National Council meeting, noting that there has been no such instance of such a long tenure of anyone not drawing any taint.
"Today Prime Minister announced the party's candidates," said BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawade . "BJP candidate is the lotus flower ...Lotus is the candidate for all 543 seats in the country. The selection of candidates will continue but each party worker has to strive and work with dedication for next 100 days," Tawade quoted the PM as saying at the office-bearers' meeting.

Spelling out how the numbers he has set for the victory can be achieved, Modi said party cadres must strive to secure 370 more votes than what was polled in each booth in 2019.
Later in a post on X, Modi said, "Addressed the @BJIndia National Office Bearers. Complimented every party karyakarta for their exceptional efforts to serve people. Discussed ways to deepen our party's grassroots level connect across all sections of society. Over the last decade, BJP has made a mark as a party of development and good governance. Our schemes, initiatives and reforms have transformed several lives."
Decked up as "vikasit village", Bharat Mandapam is hosting the two-day meet of the party where more than 11,500 delegates have been invited, the highest- ever attendance at a national council meeting, in keeping with PM's focus on grassroots workers who are directly involved in spreading the party's message. Party workers must reach out to each household in the next 100 days, he said.
Tawde said the party will launch a campaign to reach out to beneficiaries of various central govt schemes from Feb 25.
