Long Island pair dine and dash Italian restaurant, commit robbery at Macy's: police

GARDEN CITY, Long Island (PIX11) -- A man and woman on Long Island had an Italian meal before skipping out on the bill and ending their night by allegedly committing assault and robbing a Macy's Wednesday evening, according to police.

The duo's evening started at Maggiano's Little Italy in Garden City. Police said the two ate at the restaurant before getting up and leaving without paying their bill.

Around 5:30 p.m., the pair went to the Macy's on Old Country Road and started to take and hide items, according to police. The two began leaving the store without paying for any items. According to officials, two loss prevention officers walked up to the subjects when the female suspect started to push and kick an officer.

Police said the man and woman ran out of the store into the blue parking garage. Police described the man and woman as being around 30.
