11 months ago 15

Bengaluru South, a significant constituency called the 'Anant Kumar constituency', where former union minister and senior BJP leader Anant Kumar won six times, is believed to be a bastion of the BJP. After Anant Kumar's demise, it was BJP Yuva Morcha President Tejasvi Surya who won from Bengaluru South in 2019. The BJP believes that even a mere worker can go ahead and contest from this constituency and the saffron party aims to retain the seat in upcoming Lok Sabha polls as well. Out of eight assembly constituencies, BJP has won five, and Congress has won three. This is the context where former chairman of Aadhar and IT tycoon Nandan Nilekani contested against Anant Kumar in 2004.
