The Bankura constituency was held by CPI(M) leader Basudeb Acharia from 1984 till 2014, when it switched hands to Trinamool Congress, before BJP candidate Subhash Sarkar won the Lok Sabha seat in 2019. The Bankura constituency, notably significant throughout Bengal, has an approximately 15% voter base from the Scheduled Tribe. The development of the Scheduled Tribe of the Bankura district is predicted to be key issues to watch in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
