Veteran BJP leader LK Advani will be attending the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, news agency ANI quoted a Vishva Hindu Parishad leader as saying.

His decision to attend the Ram Mandir 'Pran Partistha' ceremony is noteworthy as LK Advani, 96, is the BJP leader who spearheaded the Ram Janambhoomi movement.

The VHP invited BJP veterans LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi in December to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. However, the temple trust at the time said that LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, 89, were unlikely to attend the consecration ceremony due to their health and age.

Speaking about the attendance in Ayodhya, the International Working President of the VHP Alok Kumar said that all required arrangements and medical facilities will be provided to LK Advani.

With limited invitees, Ram Mandir will be inaugurated on January 22, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi among other leaders. Thousands of seers from across the country have been invited for the ceremony and the invitees also include families of the labourers who erected the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

The temple town is preparing for the big day with ceremonies beginning for seven days starting from January 16. The preparations for the consecration ceremony would be completed by January 15.
