States that the wicket looks good to bat on. Tells that he is very excited to lead a young side and hopes that the youngsters can keep the flag flying high. Further says that it is a moment of pride for him to be leading the nation. Expects the young guys to come out and put up a good fight. Informs that Richard Ngarava misses out but hopes that the left-arm seamer is fit for the remainder of the series. Also says that Craig Ervine has rested for this series but has a role to play going ahead.

Shubman Gill, the captain of India, says it looks like a good surface and reckons it won't change much throughout. Says that they want to know the score they are chasing. Further tells that you always have certain expectations from yourself. Informs that Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel are making their debuts.
