England will look back on this day and will be reminded of the entire series as Day 1 summed up their tour perfectly. They have got themselves into promising and even dominating positions but have just not been able to take advantage. After being 100/2, they could only manage to put on 218 runs and got bundled out in just over two sessions on Day 1. With the ball in hand soon after, the pacers couldn't do much damage early on and were dealt with by the Indian openers. The spinners bowled decently well and created some doubt in the minds of the batters but went for runs too. Shoaib Bashir got hammered away but did come back strongly and got rid of the dangerman Yashasvi Jaiswal but still, England are well behind the eight-ball here.

SESSION SUMMARY - 32.4 overs, 159 runs and 3 wickets! A commanding session from India to end Day 1 of this fifth and final Test in Dharamsala. Things moved quickly after Lunch as England lost wickets in a heap and were bowled out a few overs after the Tea interval. Since then though, the Indian openers dominated and have put the hosts in a very good position going into Day 2. Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his fine form as he racked up 700 runs in the series before nothing up yet another 50 but he did lose his wicket trying to be too aggressive. Skipper, Rohit Sharma wasn't quite in full flow at the other end but put the bad balls away and got settled as well. He too brought up a half century as India ended the day with 9 wickets intact with Rohit and Shubman Gill both well-set.
