Thousands have gathered in Chicago for the Democratic Convention to show their support for Kamala Harris as officially nominated democratic party candidate against Republican rival Donald Trump in the 2024 US presidential elections.

The convention will also mark the official nomination of Harris' running mate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Joe Biden, who quit the race to the White House last month, also made his farewell speech at the convention and said he has been "determined to keep America moving forward, not going back".
