CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A variety of free events, including fireworks, outdoor movie nights and circus acts, will be happening in Coney Island this summer.
The Alliance for Coney Island announced a lineup of summer events on Thursday.
“Join us this summer as we celebrate the rich history and vibrant culture of Coney Island with a calendar full of fun and excitement!” Daniel Murphy, the executive director of the Alliance for Coney Island, said in a statement.
Here's a list of free summer events happening in Coney Island this summer.
Friday night fireworks
A free fireworks show will be held each Friday beginning June 21 and continuing through Labor Day. The fireworks will launch from the beach at West 12th Street around 9:45 p.m.
Circus Amok
Circus Amok, a New York City-based circus-theater company, will perform tightrope walking, juggling, acrobatics, stilt walking, clowning, and more on Sunday, June 23. It will take place at West 12th Street and Surf Avenue as part of New York City's Open Streets program.
Classic Car Show
The third annual Classic Car Show will be held on Thursday, July 18. It will also take place at West 12th Street and Surf Avenue as part of the Open Streets program.
Fourth of July fireworks show
An Independence Day fireworks show will be held at 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.
Paramount+ Movie Nights
Paramount+ Movie Nights will host free movie screenings on the beach Thursday nights from July 11 to Aug. 8. “The Warriors,” “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning” and “Everything Everywhere All At Once” are among the movies that will be shown.
Sand Sculpting Competition
Amateurs and professional artists can take part in the 32nd annual Sand Sculpting Competition for a chance to win cash prizes. The event will be held at Coney Island Beach by Stillwell Avenue and West 12th Street from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17.
