NEW YORK (PIX11) -- New York City is home to the largest LGBTQIA+ Pride gathering in the world.
Each year, many events are held leading up to the Pride March, which commemorates the Stonewall Uprising in 1969, widely considered the beginning of the modern gay rights movement.
"The NYC Pride March is how we combat all the negativity; this is the celebration that brings people from every borough in the city and all parts of the world together in joy to share the accomplishments, talents, and resilience of our community,” said NYC Pride Executive Director Sandra Pérez. “The March is where we demonstrate the strength that comes with inclusion, diversity, and acceptance."
While many view the Pride March as a must-attend event, there is also an abundance of LGBT celebrations across the city all month.
