Indian-Canadian actor Lisa Ray has called out Air India in a post on X, claiming that the airline denied a medical waiver to her 92-year-old father despite providing a doctor’s certificate.

"Here we go again @airindia. My father is 92, unwell, and I have to cancel travel due to his ailing condition. Submitted doctor’s letter, and the waiver was denied? How is that possible? Where is the empathy from an airline that is claiming to care about passengers??? (sic)," Lisa, who has starred in films like 99 Songs, Kasoor, and Ishq Forever, wrote on X.

The airline responded via its official account, saying, "Dear Ms. Ray, we empathise with your concern and wish your father a speedy recovery. Please help us with the email address from which you've written to us or the case ID (if any) via DM. We'll look into it (sic)."

Replying to Air India, Lisa shared a screenshot of her email exchange with the travel agency, which likely helped her book the ticket. In the email, the agency mentioned "no medical waiver."

Air India then responded to the screenshot, stating, "Dear Ms. Ray, please allow us some time while we review the details provided. Your patience in the interim is highly appreciated."

While some users sympathised with Lisa and wished her father a speedy recovery, others suggested she buy travel insurance and flexible tickets in the future.

"Well... Next time buy a flexible ticket and travel insurance (sic)," an X user wrote. Another added, "It will work out somehow & may take some time. Take care of your father. I wish for his speedy recovery. Love. (sic)."

Lisa Ray was last seen in 99 Songs, produced by music maestro AR Rahman. She has also been part of international projects such as Blood Ties, The Summit, and Top Chef Canada. She returned to Indian television with Prime Video’s Four More Shots Please! as Samara Kapoor. Lisa is also the author of Close to the Bone: A Memoir, which chronicles her cancer journey.
