LinkedIn

has introduced new AI-powered features aimed to improve the networking experience on its platform. These updates, the Micvrosoft-owned company says, come at a time when majority of professionals are re-evaluating their careers and looking to expand their networks. The new features use AI to streamline processes like making connections, searching for jobs, and sharing content.
LinkedIn cites a recent survey that found 85% of professionals are considering changing jobs in 2024. The platform acknowledges that building and maintaining a professional network requires a substantial time commitment, with nearly a quarter of people surveyed reporting that they spend 6-10 hours per week on networking activities.
To help you find the right people to connect with, and ways to spark up a conversation, we’re rolling out a new two-tab experience when you visit your Network Tab, here are the details:
“Grow” tab

The “Grow” tab, according to the company, is focused on helping users manage their existing connections and find relevant people to add to their network. "We’ve been using the power of AI for more than a decade and a half to take billions of connections, interactions and engagements across LinkedIn, and narrow that down to personalized recommendations in a snap with our People You May Know Feature. You can learn more about that process from our engineering team here," said the company.

“Catch Up” tab
The “Catch Up” tab is said to be focused on uncovering reasons to as the company says, "well…catch up with your network." LinkedIn, wrote in its blog post, that it built the new “Catch Up” tab because sometimes the best way to start networking is a simple “hello!” But a cold-start is more successful when there is a reason behind it. So, we are helping uncover those reasons and share with users at the ideal moments. "We’ll let you know when your connections start a new gig, celebrate a work anniversary, announce that they are hiring, or even celebrate a birthday. That way, you can reach out to congratulate them, and use that as a moment to either re-engage or keep the conversation going," is how the feature will help you, as per the company.
Solving the 'writing problem'
One of the biggest challenges people face with networking is kicking off that first conversation with someone. LinkedIn has introduced a new Premium feature to help. Now, Premium subscribers can use AI to help draft a message that pulls in information from both their profile and the person they are looking to chat with - whether they’re in or outside their network. Tip here for users is that based on your relationship and goal of connecting, choose whether you want to introduce yourself or ask about their current or previous work experience.
