Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the notice issued to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over AAP's claim that the BJP attempted to poach MLAs from the party.
AAP leader Jasmine Shah alleged that the BJP made Delhi Police stand on the street for 5 hours to deliver the notice like "delivery boys" of Amazon and Flipkart.
"It's sad that BJP made Delhi Police stand on street for 5 hrs to deliver this like delivery boys of Amazon and Flipkart only to indulge in 'nautanki'. They should have been instead fighting crime. Our sympathies are with them," the AAP leader wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
A drama unfolded at Arvind Kejriwal's residence on Saturday after a team of Delhi Police Crime Branch arrived again to serve him a notice to join a probe over his claim that the BJP was trying to poach AAP MLAs.
The team led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-level officer insisted they will hand over the notice to Arvind Kejriwal personally, while officials at the Chief Minister's residence said they are ready to take the notice and give a receiving.
After nearly a five-hour confrontation between the two sides, Delhi Police handed over the notice to staff stationed outside the Chief Minister's residence.
AAP's Jasmine Shah also claimed that the notice does not include anything about a summons or an FIR or any section of the IPC or CrPC. "This is just a letter on a white paper," he said.
Earlier in the day, a Delhi Police team served a notice to Finance Minister Atishi, who made similar allegations that the BJP was attempting to "poach" Aam Aadmi Party MLAs.
Sources told news agency PTI that the Crime Branch has asked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi to give information on the allegations of poaching levelled against the BJP. Both the AAP leaders have been asked to respond to the notice by February 5.
The police action came days after Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi claimed that the BJP was trying to poach AAP MLAs by offering Rs 25 crore each and a ticket to contest next year's assembly poll to topple the AAP government.
Meanwhile, the BJP has dismissed the accusations, labelling them as "untrue" and "groundless." They have even challenged the Chief Minister to provide supporting evidence for his claims.
