NEW DELHI: Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, recently expressed his views on political parties through a social media platform formerly known as Twitter. In his statement, Musk emphasized that no
political party
is infallible, stating, "Anyone who claims that their political party does no wrong, and the other party does no right, is either a liar, a fool, or both."
This comment comes amidst the intensifying campaigning for the
2024 United States Presidential Elections
, with President
Joe Biden
and his Republican challenger, Donald Trump, preparing for the race.
Musk's political opinions are not new. In January, he joined former President Donald Trump and Republican critics in denouncing a controversial Senate border deal that President Biden described as the "toughest" set of reforms. Musk asserted on X that no new laws were necessary to address the US border crisis, calling Biden's "open border" policy "undeniable."
He later added that anyone who blindly believes in the promises made by a political party is an idiot, stating, "As a general rule, if you believe everything your political party says, you are an idiot." In 2022, Musk openly declared his support for the Republican Party, announcing his switch from Democrat to Republican.
During a recent shareholder meeting, Musk shared insights into his conversations with Donald Trump, revealing that the former president is a fan of Tesla's Cybertruck.
Musk described Trump as "very nice" during their exchanges, where he promoted the advantages of electric vehicles and emphasized America's leadership in the battery-powered car industry. Musk suggested that Trump's appreciation for the Cybertruck might be influenced by the vehicle's popularity among his friends.
Last month, Musk's criticism of President Biden intensified on X, with the Tesla CEO stating that the president "obviously barely knows what's going on" and characterizing him as "just a tragic front for a far left political machine." Musk's posts about Biden have increased significantly this year, with nearly 40 posts compared to around 30 in the previous year.
In contrast, Musk has posted more than 20 times on X about Donald Trump, defending the former president and arguing that he is a victim of media and prosecutorial bias in the criminal cases he faces. As the owner of an influential social media platform, Musk's willingness to openly express his political views and potentially sway public opinion sets him apart from other social media leaders.
