LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Long Island mother was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to murdering her twin daughters in June 2019, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

Tenia Campbell, 28, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder in connection to the 2019 killings of her twin 2-year-old daughters in December 2023.

On June 27, 2019, Campbell's mom called the police to tell them her daughter was driving around in the family's van, threatening to kill her daughters around 2:30 p.m., court documents reveal. Around 4 p.m., an officer with the East Hampton Police Department located the van a few miles outside of Montauk Point off of the Montauk Highway.

Campbell later admitted to smothering her daughters to death, according to the court documents.

“These two young lives were cut short by the one person who was supposed to love and protect them,” said Tierney. “Although the 20-year sentence here resolves this sad case, it will not bring back these girls.”
