Kristen Stewart, the actor turned filmmaker, recently discussed the limited representation of women in Hollywood in an interview with Porter magazine. She expressed her admiration for fellow actors and filmmakers like Maggie Gyllenhaal and Margot Robbie, but criticised the industry for championing only a select few women.

She said, "“There’s a thinking that we can check these little boxes, and then do away with the patriarchy, and how we’re all made of it. It’s easy for them to be like, ‘Look what we’re doing. We’re making Maggie Gyllenhaal’s movie! We’re making Margot Robbie’s movie!’ And you’re like, OK, cool. You’ve chosen four."

The 'Twilight' actor then mentioned that she loves and respects these women and said, "And I’m in awe of those women, I love those women [but] it feels phony. If we’re congratulating each other for broadening our perspective, when we haven’t really done enough, then we stop broadening."

Stewart referred to Greta Gerwig's $1 billion grosser satire 'Barbie', starring and co-produced by Margot Robbie, and Maggie Gyllenhaal's upcoming sci-fi horror 'The Bride!'.

Stewart, who is preparing for the release of her directorial debut 'The Chronology Of Water', also shared her struggles with financial challenges in making the movie.

Further, she expressed her reluctance to participate in superhero movies, describing them as a 'nightmare', unless asked by Greta Gerwig. Stewart's upcoming projects include 'Sacramento' and the vampire movie 'Flesh of the Gods'.
