NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer
Wasim Jaffer
recently expressed his opinion on the ideal batting order for the
Indian team
in the upcoming
T20 World Cup 2024
. According to Jaffer,
Virat Kohli
and
Yashasvi Jaiswal
should open the innings for the Men in Blue.
The
ICC T20 World Cup
is scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the USA from June 1 to 29.
India will have a warm-up game against Bangladesh on June 1 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York before the tournament begins.

In his tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Jaffer suggested that
Rohit Sharma
and
Suryakumar Yadav
should bat at the third and fourth positions, respectively. He also praised Rohit's ability to play spin well, stating, "Rohit plays spin really well so batting at 4 shouldn't be a concern."
India's T20 World Cup campaign will commence on June 5 against Ireland at the newly built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled for June 9. The team will then face the tournament co-hosts USA on June 12 and Canada on June 15 to complete their Group A matches.
The Indian team will be determined to end their ICC trophy drought, having last won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. Since then, they have reached the finals and semifinals of various ICC tournaments but have fallen short of securing a major trophy.
India's goal will be to clinch their first T20 World Cup title since winning the inaugural edition in South Africa in 2007. In the previous edition held in Australia in 2022, India suffered a 10-wicket defeat against England in the semifinals.
