NEW DELHI: India's batting superstar

Virat Kohli

says that time away from the game has helped him realize how much he has been blessed with, highlighting that tough situations are part of the entire process.
After featuring in the T20I series against Afghanistan in January earlier this year, Kohli withdrew from the following Test series against England at home that came as a surprise for many.

It later came into light that Kohli had requested for a break to be with his wife Anushka Sharma, during the birth of their second child, Akaay.
But it was not the first time, Kohli was away from the game, taking some time off. Whenever Kohli has undergone a lean patch, a bit of the time away has helped him immensely.
And similar was the case when he returned to IPL this year after his break, scoring a plethora of runs. The Orange Cap holder this season, Kohli's form has come as a blessing for Team India as well, which will be in action at the

T20 World Cup

after IPL.

"Time away from the game made me realize how much I have been blessed with, rather than staying in that circle of, why isn't it happening for me? I mean, where is the limit? I can guarantee you there is no player in the history of the game that can say, you know what if I get to these many runs or these many hundreds, I'll be a happy man. That doesn't exist. You can get a phenomenal hundred but the next moment if your family member or child or your partner gets health issues or god forbid anything, life takes a completely different turn. Nothing is guaranteed at all, at any stage. I would never believe that I would be in this position," Kohli said on a Star Sports show.

Despite playing professional cricket for so many years, Kohli's consistent hard work and love for the game is something that is admired by almost everyone. Kohli said his focus has always been on the process and he could have never imagined himself in this place ever when he started.
"I could have never imagined myself in this situation ever. You kind of understand things were meant to be a certain way. The only thing you could do was work hard and be honest in what you are doing. That's the only thing I followed.
"I never predicted that at this stage, I would have this much performance or I would be at this stage in my career where god will put me in this situation. I could have never thought about these things," Kohli said.
