Knicks Urged to Make Major Karl-Anthony Towns Decision After Season-Ending Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns was brilliant alongside Jalen Brunson in his first season with a new club. After spending his entire career with the Minnesota Timberwolves prior to being traded, the Kentucky product meshed with the team early on.
Towns and the Knicks made the Eastern Conference Finals with the center and Brunson at the helm. Unfortunately, their playoff run came to an end after a Game 6 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
The Pacers will be the team to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals, with the Knicks hitting the drawing board to improve upon this season and aim for a better result next year.
The reactions to the Eastern Conference Finals were strong. Different issues were diagnosed among the fanbase -- and NBA fans in general -- which is quite typical for a team dealing with a playoff loss.
Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor was quite quick to offer his blunt assessment of what the Knicks should do this offseason.
"Trading KAT should be priority #1 for the Knicks," O'Connor shared on X after New York's loss.

— Kevin O'Connor (@KevinOConnorNBA) June 1, 2025Towns was acquired just before the season, made an All-NBA team as an All-Star, yet he's already being thrown in the trade rumor mill.
The Knicks' loss is fresh. They've had just one campaign with one another. It's not quite fair to be so quick with such an assessment.
It was clear both Brunson and Towns were more productive on the court without one another sharing the hardwood, which can be more so attributed to the coaching.
Regardless, the squad had just one campaign with each other, and they can build on the season rather than breaking the core up right away.
The offseason is long. The Knicks will have decisions. Fans will have suggestions. An Eastern Conference Finals appearance is nothing for New York to hang their hands on, regardless.
