'Kalki 2898 AD' performed exceptionally well in its second weekend at the box office worldwide. The film collected around Rs 230 crore between its second Friday-Sunday, taking the overall 11-day run to Rs 832 crore globally, reported the trade website sacnilk. The Prabhas-starrer has now surpassed Aamir Khan's 'PK' and Sunny Deol's blockbuster, 'Gadar 2' at the global ticket window, becoming the 10th all-time highest-grossing Indian film ever.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, 'Kalki 2898 AD' enjoyed a stupendous second Sunday and minted an estimated Rs 60 crore gross business. Out of this Rs 832 crore, around Rs 600 gross is from the domestic market while the overseas (majorly the US and Canada markets) has added around Rs 230+ gross to the overall earnings. The film, which rides heavily on its unique genre combining science-fiction and mythology, is now aiming at going past the worldwide gross business of 'Secret Superstar' (Rs 912.75 crore), 'Animal' (Rs 915 crore) and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' (Rs 922.03 crore) to become the seventh highest-grossing Indian film of all-time.
Check the list of top 13 highest-grossing Indian films of all time at box office worldwide - gross collection (source: sacnilk)
- Dangal (2016): Rs 2070.3 crore
- Baahubali 2 (2017): Rs 1788.06 crore
- RRR (2022): Rs 1230 crore
- KGF 2 (2022): Rs 1215 crore
- Jawan (2023): Rs 1160 crore
- Pathaan (2023): Rs 1055 crore
- Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015): Rs 922.03 crore
- Animal (2023): Rs 915 crore
- Secret Superstar (2017): Rs 912.75 crore

- PK (2014): Rs 792 crore
- 2.0 (2018): Rs 744.78 crore
- Gadar 2 (2023): Rs 686 crore
Interestingly, once 'Kalki 2898 AD' crosses the benchmark of Rs 900 crore, it will be eyeing the overall gross of Shah Rukh Khan's biggies - 'Jawan' and 'Pathaan'. Also starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan in important roles, it has already become the second-biggest film of Prabhas's career, only behind 'Baahubali 2' in terms of business.
At this speed, 'Kalki' is expected to become the first Rs 1000 crore Indian grosser of the year by the end of its second week. It will be interesting if it can cross 'KGF 2' and 'RRR' in its lifetime run at the box office now. Will it?
