On June 26, at a ceremony held at UNESCO's Headquarters in Paris, SEVENTEEN will be named UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Youth by the organisation's Director-General, Audrey Azoulay.

This appointment comes after SEVENTEEN played a significant role in the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum held in Paris in November 2023. During the event, the group emphasised the value of youth unity and activism through an impactful speech and an energetic live performance in front of representatives from UNESCO's 194 Member States, youth delegates from various countries, and hundreds of fans.

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO said, “SEVENTEEN and UNESCO share the same commitment to empowering young people to drive change and address the challenges of our century. They continue to inspire and support young people around the world with their music and positive energy. Following several successful joint actions, I wanted our partnership to take on even greater strategic importance. On June 26, I will be delighted to welcome the 13 members of the group into the family of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors.”

SEVENTEEN x UNESCO

In 2022, SEVENTEEN partnered with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO on the project ‘#GoingTogether,’ which led to the creation of new educational facilities in Timor-Leste and the provision of educational assistance in Malawi.

By taking on the role of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth, SEVENTEEN will dedicate their skills and influence to support the organization's principles and mission. During the ceremony on June 26, Audrey Azoulay will present them with a plan to highlight the issues young people face and foster opportunities for tangible change through UNESCO initiatives. The group will also introduce the new SEVENTEEN x UNESCO collaboration, aimed at backing youth projects worldwide.
