BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- Investigations into an attack on two Hasidic boys in Brooklyn earlier this month that is being treated as a possible antisemitic hate crime are ongoing, according to the NYPD.

The two boys, ages 11 and 13, were playing on the sidewalk of Franklin Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant with several others when a male juvenile rode up on a Citi Bike on May 12, police said.

The juvenile got off the bike and approached the group, telling them to "get off the sidewalk," police said. He then punched and kicked the victims, before throwing them to the ground while the others ran to safety.

Police said the juvenile rode back and forth on the sidewalk and that there was an interaction between him and the group of kids before the attack.

Police do not believe the juvenile and the victims know each other. While no antisemitic comments were made during the altercation, the attack is currently being handled as a hate crime.

NYPD officials announced they are currently working on a Crime Stoppers tip.

Submit tips to police by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, downloading the NYPD Crime Stoppers mobile app, or texting 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. Spanish-speaking callers are asked to dial 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
