Miller's Girl
'. Controversy erupted after an explicit love scene with the 21-year-old actress and her 52-year-old co-star
Martin Freeman
, went viral on social media.
The love scene ignited a storm of criticism due to the lead pair's huge 31-year age gap. In the film, Ortega portrays 18-year-old student Cairo, while Freeman takes on the role of her teacher, Jonathan Miller.

One tweeted, "MARTIN FREEMAN WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO JENNA ORTEGA!"
"Martin Freeman, is 52 and Jenna is 21. Idk the content of the video, but you people make me sick," worte another.
"This Jenna Ortega/Martin Freeman film is so gross! It looks troubling," another commented.
While still another fumed, "I think I am finally done watching these age gap movies. They are all gross, and I am tired of it. No amount of Jenna Ortega or Martin Freeman could save this one for me."
"That Jenna Ortega Martin Freeman clip might be the worst thing I’ve ever seen," another outraged fan tweeted.
Jenna herself acknowledged the 'riskiness' of the film's subject, admitting she was taken aback by her character's portrayal. She, however, emphasized the importance of artists taking risks but acknowledged the daunting nature of the role. "I remember being so taken aback by Cairo because what I have experienced in my career and I think a lot of young girls can say the same," she said.
Critics haven't been kind to 'Miller's Girl' either, with Rotten Tomatoes giving it a mere 32% rating, while audiences gave it a 45% score.
The controversy comes on the heels of Ortega's golden run at award shows for her portrayal of
Wednesday Addams
in Netflix's 'Wednesday'. She received nominations at the Golden Globe Awards, Primetime Emmys and Screen Actors Guild Awards for her leading role in the series that is awaiting its sequel.
