NEW DELHI: Pace spearhead
Jasprit Bumrah
on Sunday created history, becoming the first Indian to take 150 wickets for a single Indian Premier League franchise.
Bumrah accomplished the feat in the clash against Delhi Capitals at Wankhede as MI stormed to their first win of the 2024 edition of the tournament.
The 30-year-old grabbed a couple of wickets in the high-scoring encounter against Delhi and took his tally to 150, playing for Mumbai Indians.
Bumrah, who joined the franchise in 2013, is among a handful of players, who have played only for a single team in their IPL careers.
With the special feat, Bumrah joined the elite list comprising only Lasith Malinga and Sunil Narine, who have taken more than 150 wickets for a single franchise in the IPL.
While Malinga took 170 wickets playing for Mumbai Indians during his IPL career, Narine has a total of 166 wickets for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Among Indians, Bumrah has the most wickets for a single franchise -- 150.
He is closely followed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has 147 scalps to his name, representing Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Other Indians on the list are - Yuzvendra Chahal (139 wickets playing for RCB), Harbhajan Singh (127 wickets playing for Mumbai Indians) and Ravindra Jadeja (126 wickets representing Chennai Super Kings).
After knocking over Prithvi Shaw (66) with his trademark toe-crusher, Bumrah got rid of Abishek Porel (41) for his 150th IPL wicket.
Bumrah finished with terrific figures of 4-0-22-2 against DC.
