NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – Jack Ciattarelli has won the Republican primary for New Jersey governor, according to the Associated Press.
Ciattarelli will now represent the Republican party in the November general election to fill the current Gov. Phil Murphy’s seat. Murphy was elected in 2018 and is reaching his term limit this year.
There were five Republican candidates in the primary race: radio host Bill Spadea, Sen. Jon Bramnick, contractor Justin Barbera, attorney Mario Kranjac, and former state Assemblymember Jack Ciattarelli. Ciattarelli challenged Murphy in 2021 for the Republican nomination.
A recent poll by PIX11, Emerson College and The Hill revealed Newark Airport, the economy, and the Trump administration are key priorities for New Jersey voters this election. Republican voters overwhelmingly want their next governor to work with Pres. Donald Trump, according to the poll.
Just weeks ahead of the primary election, Ciatarelli held the lead with a 44% share of the vote.
