NEW DELHI: Sunrisers Hyderabad batter
Aiden Markram
revealed that their strategy was to adopt an attacking approach during their six-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2024 at the
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium
.
The former SRH skipper, who scored a crucial 50 from 36 balls, emphasized their intent to attack particularly in the first ten overs of the innings.
Markram's innings included 4 fours and an overhead boundary, contributing significantly to SRH's successful chase.
Reflecting on the match during the post-match presentation, Markram noted that although their win against CSK wasn't on par with their victory over Mumbai Indians, they maintained a positive approach throughout the game.
"Not too bad, not equivalent to what it was against Mumbai, as the ball got softer and older, it wasn't easy, we saw it when we bowled. When we batted, we wanted to attack in the first ten overs and then take it from there. Not too much to be honest, I don't want to think too much, see the ball and hit the ball. I think when you get on tricky wickets, you have to still value the batter who is in. On good wickets, you are allowed to play freely and that is where the Impact player rule comes in handy," Markram said.
SRH's convincing win propelled them to the fifth spot in the
IPL 2024
standings with two wins and two losses in four games, accumulating four points. Meanwhile, CSK hold the third spot with an identical win-loss ratio but a better run rate.
