KOZHIKODE: IUML leader PK Kunhalikutty said the faceoff between governor AM
Khan
and the LDF government was a drama aimed at the upcoming
Lok Sabha
elections. Addressing the media on Tuesday, Kunhalikutty claimed the governor as well as the state government are mocking the people of the state through their actions.
While the government's attempt is aimed at diverting attention from the serious issues faced by the people, the governor seems to have some political aims aligned with the interests of BJP.
But just like previous Parliament elections, this drama will become an advantage for UDF, he said, adding that in the current situation the people will only take the
UDF
seriously.
Kunhalikutty said that earlier UDF governments had shown how the governors should be taken together by maintaining decorum and added that in contrast, the people are now seeing the misuse of administrative machinery. He said the conduct of
Nava Kerala Sadas
by the government and simultaneous staging of agitations using
CPM
's student union on the other hand and the sight of the governor hitting the streets and BJP leaders coming out to support him have become instances of mocking the public.
With Parliament elections just three months away, we are seeing attempts by both sides to put up some sort of a show, he said, adding that all those who viewed the government institutions seriously would view the drama by both sides as totally wrong and that will turn out to be beneficial for UDF.
He said that just like the people appreciated the manner in which UDF handled matters like Sabarimala and other issues in a democratic way, and gave it 19 of the 20 seats in 2019 elections, the same situation will prevail during the upcoming election as well.
