NEW DELHI: The controversy surrounding Indian cricketer

Hanuma Vihari

's decision to part ways with the Andhra Pradesh

Ranji Cricket team

has escalated, with

Telugu Desam Party

(TDP) chief and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu accusing the

Andhra Cricket Association

(ACA) of succumbing to vindictive politics allegedly orchestrated by the

Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party

(YSRCP).

Vihari's announcement on Monday that he would no longer represent Andhra Pradesh in domestic cricket, citing mistreatment by the ACA, has sparked a wave of criticism and support.
Naidu took to X (formerly Twitter) to express solidarity with Vihari, denouncing the association's actions and offering his unwavering support.
In his tweet, Naidu condemned what he perceived as the ACA's compliance with alleged political interference, expressing dismay that Vihari, a distinguished Indian cricketer, felt compelled to make such a decision. He emphasized Vihari's integrity and commitment to the sport, vowing to ensure justice prevails in the matter.

"It's a shame that even the Andhra Cricket Association has succumbed to YSRCP's vindictive politics. Hanuma, stay strong - your integrity and commitment to the game speak volumes... We stand with you, and we'll ensure justice prevails," Naidu's tweet read.

Vihari, in an social media post, detailed the circumstances leading to his decision, including his alleged forced resignation as captain following a confrontation with a player, purportedly the son of a politician. Despite feeling humiliated and embarrassed, Vihari continued playing out of respect for the game and his teammates.

The episode has reignited debates surrounding political interference in sports administration, with stakeholders calling for transparency and accountability within cricketing bodies.
As Vihari's allegations continue to reverberate, the spotlight remains on the ACA's handling of player grievances and the broader implications of political influence in the state's sporting landscape.
