NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Thousands of Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp users are reporting service issues, according to Downdetector.
More than 23,000 users reported issues with Instagram as of 12:51 p.m. on Wednesday while more than 51,000 users reported issues with Facebook and more than 12,000 reported issues with WhatsApp.
Among WhatsApp users, 83 percent reported issues with sending messages while 78 percent of people reported issues with Instagram's mobile app. Fifty-six percent of Facebook users also reported problems with the app while 34 percent reported issues with the website.
In a statement to PIX11 News, a representative for Meta said the following:
“We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and apologize for any inconvenience.”
Meta SpokespersonA representative for WhatsApp also posted to the social media site X saying, "we’re aware of some issues accessing WhatsApp. We’re actively working on a solution and starting to see a return to normal for most people. We expect things to be back to normal shortly."
