NEW DELHI: Ignored for the Indian national team for major tournaments year after year,
Yuzvendra Chahal
has every time chosen to speak with his on-field performances rather than taking jibes at the selection process.
Not included in the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cup squads in UAE and Australia, Chahal, this time, once again is banging the doors of the selection committee ahead of the squad announcement for the 2024 T20 World Cup in June, to be held in the Caribbean and US.
The leading wicket-taker this season, Chahal (197) is also the most successful bowler in the history of IPL, nearing the coveted 200-wicket mark.
Chahal recently shared his success mantra, saying that the title of the leading wicket-taker makes him proud and he always ensures to give his 100 percent for his side.
"Obviously its a very big achievement for me. When I started the IPL, I never thought of bein at the top. Espicially, wickets me. World ki sabse best league hai (it is the world's best league). Last year my friends told me that I need 18 wickets to break Dwayne Bravo's IPL record. I said I haven't thought about that. Because jab wickets milti hai to milti hain, jab wickets nahi milti naa (laughs), to ek bhi nahi milti. So, I don't wan't to jinx it. I always give my 100-200 percent for the team," Chahal said on a Star Sports show.
This year, Chahal (10) is the joint leading wicket-taker in IPL alongside pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.
Chahal's Rajasthan Royals are currently leading the points table with 4 wins and a defeat in 5 matches.
