DC vs RR IPL 2024 Live Score: It's that time of the IPL when every game becomes crucial in terms of race to the Playoffs. Each point matters, especially for those mid-table teams that are in a mad scramble. Tuesday's IPL clash between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is one such game. One team (Rajasthan Royals) is looking to seal their spot in the Playoffs and the other (Delhi Capitals) will aim to keep their campaign alive. Besides the clash between the two teams, there is a subplot that fans will keep a keen eye on. The battle between the two captains, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. Both have been selected in India's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in America and the Caribbean and each would look to outdo the other in order to get into the playing XI as the team's No. 1 wicketkeeper-batsman. The test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium will involve all parameters – wicketkeeping, batting and also leadership skills. So far both have led with aplomb. Sanju's RR has minimal weaknesses and combined with his astute captaincy, the team is deservedly placed second in the points table with four games (including Tuesday's match) in hand. Pant, on the other hand, doesn't have a well-oiled team like Rajasthan at his disposal. Still, he has got the best out of his players, considering the number of injury-related issues the franchise has faced. Harry Brook, Lungi Ngidi, Mitchell Marsh – all first XI players – were lost at different stages of the tournament. Pant, on his part, has put up a brave face and not let his performance go down. The left-hander has batted in a lionhearted manner and scored 398 runs at an average of 44.22 and a phenomenal strike-rate of 158.56 in the tournament so far. There is little to choose between the two in terms of numbers, as Sanju has scored 385 runs at an average of 64.16 and a strike-rate of 159.09 till now. With the World Cup approaching, this game will give a glimpse to who among the two will have an upper hand going into the marquee tournament. As far as team news goes, DC will get back the services of Ishant Sharma, who has been declared fit. But, his teammate David Warner is “yet to be passed fit”. Head coach Ricky Ponting gave the information in the pre-match press conference. "They both trained yesterday (Sunday). In fact, Ishant trained three of the last five days. We're happy with what we've seen from him. As of now, he's fit for selection," Ponting said. "Warner had a few days off. He also did some batting in the nets for about 20 minutes. He will go through his final paces, but he is still to be passed fit. But from what I've seen, he's a whole lot better."
DC vs RR Live Score - DC pacers need to step up
The Royals bowling attack has been able to maintain a decent economy rate but for Delhi Capitals, only Axar Patel (ER of 7.24) and Kuldeep (ER 8.45) have shown the wherewithal to stop opposition batters on their tracks. It is time that Khaleel (ER 9.47) and Mukesh Kumar (ER 11.05) also show more consistency. South African pacers Lizaad Williams (ER 12 in 2 games) and Anrich Nortje (ER 13.36) have simply not looked the part.
DC vs RR Live Score - Pant and Co need three in three
Apart from KKR (16 from 11 games) and RR (16 from 10 games), there are at least three teams, namely Chennai Super Kings (12 from 11), Sunrisers Hyderabad (12 from 10 games) and Lucknow Super Giants (12 from 11 games), who can go beyond the 16-point mark. Given the situation, DC's best might not be enough for qualification, but Pant would look to only "control the controllables," a policy advocated by his mentor Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
DC vs RR Live Score - DC in must-win zone
Delhi Capitals would require Rishabh Pant's killer instinct and Jake Fraser McGurk's unbelievable flair in their bid to stay alive in the IPL playoff race as they square off against a rampaging Rajasthan Royals in a must-win game at home. The Capitals have been inconsistent so far, winning five and losing six of their last 11 games. While winning the remaining three games is a must for Pant's men, even that will only take them to 16 points which might not be enough to qualify for the last four stage of the tournament.
DC vs RR Live Score - Up against a solid bowling attack
With 380 runs to his credit and three impactful half-centuries in his kitty, Rishabh Pant would like to once again perform, especially when his team has been pushed to the wall. He will have new Aussie sensation Fraser-McGurk, who has gone off the boil in the last couple of games. These two batters can individually change the complexion of a game, but DC will be wary of the Royals' bowling attack, which will pose a very different challenge at the Kotla compared to Sawai Man Singh. Facing spinners of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin's calibre isn't easy, and in veteran Sandeep Sharma, RR has a bowler, who can take pace off the deliveries.
DC vs RR Live Score - Eyes on DC bowlers
On a flat Feroz Shah Kotla deck, the challenge will be two-fold for the DC skipper Rishabh Pant. At one end, he would want the Khaleel Ahmeds, Ishant Sharmas and Kuldeep Yadavs to restrict the Yashasvi Jaiswals, Sanju Samsons, and Riyan Parags to a manageable level but then with barely 60-metre boundary on one side, it will be a challenge to stop a team, whose jersey's colour (Pink) resembles their overall health.
