The Indian Premier League's (IPL) upcoming 17th season is likely to be held from March 22 to May 26, according to a report.
As mentioned by the
Cricbuzz
website, the
BCCI
has discussed the tentative Women's Premier League (WPL) schedule with its stakeholders, and it will run from February 22 to March 17. The report adds that the IPL will begin five days after the conclusion of the
WPL
.
However, any confirmation about the IPL schedule is largely dependent on the dates of the
General Election
in the country, and the BCCI hopes that it will manage to host the league in India only.
In case the March 22 to May 26 schedule gets the nod, it will give the Indian team just five days to get together and sync up for the T20 World Cup in the US and the Caribbean, beginning June 2. But India's opening fixture, against Ireland, is scheduled for June 5.
The report adds that "the BCCI has received assurances from most cricket boards that their players will be available until the (IPL) final".
