Infant found dead at apartment complex in the Bronx: NYPD

CLAREMONT, The Bronx (PIX11) – A 1-week-old girl was found unconscious and unresponsive at an apartment building in the Bronx on Friday morning, police say.

The baby was found around 6:40 a.m. near Washington Avenue between St. Paul’s Place and East 171st Street. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

Emergency teams say they responded to a call for cardiac arrest but it is not clear how exactly the baby died.

Police are continuing to investigate what may have led to the incident.
