Infant dies after being left unattended in vehicle in New Jersey: police

EAST HANOVER, N.J. (PIX11) -- An infant passed away Wednesday afternoon after being left unattended inside a vehicle in East Hanover, according to police.

Officers responded to a 911 call at around 1:30 p.m. to a parking lot in the area of South Ridgedale Avenue.

A six-month-old female infant was located inside a parked vehicle. Lifesaving aid was rendered but the infant was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The infant's mother was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to officials.

Police say preliminary information indicates the child was left unattended inside the vehicle prior to death.

Investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Morris County Prosecutor's Office at (973) 285-6200 or the East Hanover Police Department at (973) 887-0432.
