Infant, 3 months, allegedly attacked by man in East Harlem: sources

EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) – An infant was allegedly attacked by a man believed to be his father in East Harlem on Thursday, according to sources.

The 51-year-old man was allegedly arguing with a 26-year-old woman, believed to be the 3-month-old's mother, as he assaulted the child in a building on East 101st Street around midnight, sources said.

The woman allegedly attempted to stop the attack and the man was hit with a broomstick that broke and punctured his right leg, sources told PIX11 News.

The man allegedly told officers responding to the incident that he was shot, according to sources.

The man and the child were both taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center, sources said.
