'If anything stops MS Dhoni, it will be...'

NEW DELHI: Former India batter Robin Uthappa appears to be enjoying Mahendra Singh Dhoni's sustained excellence, noting that only his physical condition might halt his illustrious career.

Uthappa praised Dhoni's stellar performances in the ongoing IPL season, especially his recent explosive cameo against Lucknow Super Giants, where he scored 28 off just nine balls.

"The only thing stopping him is his health.

His fitness will be the only thing that stops him from playing any further. He loves the game, is deeply passionate about it, and wants to continue playing it. If there's anything that will stop him, it will be his own body that will give way. The mind is staying up to date," Uthappa remarked on JioCinema.

Dhoni's impactful knock included a four and a six off Mohsin Khan, followed by another maximum off Yash Thakur. Former India pace spearhead Zaheer Khan lauded Dhoni's growing influence and exceptional performance, describing his presence on the field as phenomenal.

In the same match, Ravindra Jadeja's unbeaten 57, coupled with contributions from Moeen Ali (30 off 20) and Dhoni, propelled CSK to a competitive total of 176 for six.

However, Lucknow Super Giants, led by KL Rahul's commanding 82 and Quinton de Kock's 54, clinched victory with a record-breaking partnership of 134 runs.

Uthappa also lauded Rahul's innings, expressing confidence in his chances of making it to the T20 World Cup squad. He commended Rahul's disciplined approach.

"Over the last couple of weeks, I thought he wouldn't figure in the World Cup squad. But if he continues batting the way he is right now, he'll find himself a spot," Uthappa said.
