on Wednesday made history by becoming the oldest player to lead the ICC ODI all-rounders' list, ending
Shakib Al Hasan
's long reign at the top.
Nabi, aged 39 years and 1 month, reached the No. 1 spot after his impressive performance in the opening match of Afghanistan's three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, where he scored 136 runs and also picked up a wicket.
This accomplishment surpasses the previous record held by Tillakaratne Dilshan, who was 38 years and 8 months old when he topped the rankings in June 2015.
Shakib, the Bangladesh all-rounder, held the position for an impressive 1739 days, from May 7, 2019, when he took over from Rashid Khan, until February 9, marking the longest unbroken stretch at the top of the
ODI all-rounder
rankings. However, due to an ongoing injury concern and Nabi's recent good form, there has been a change in the rankings.
In Test cricket, there is no change at the top, with India's Jasprit Bumrah firmly positioned as the No. 1 bowler.
Ravindra Jadeja
, who is set to return in the third Test against England beginning Thursday, still led the way comprehensively in Test all-rounders' rankings.
In the ODI bowling rankings, South Africa's spinner
Keshav Maharaj
maintains his top spot. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's
Wanindu Hasaranga
(up 14 spots to equal 26th) and Dilshan Madushanka (up four places to 33rd) made notable progress in the latest rankings released on Wednesday.
