NEW DELHI: India and Afghanistan players share a great camaraderie on and off the field which has been witnessed in the past. A recent social media conversation between
Suryakumar Yadav
and
Rashid Khan
serves as further evidence of this strong bond.
Afghanistan star spinner Rashid shared a video of him practicing in the nets on Instagram. He captioned the video "I've missed you".
The top-ranked T20I batter Suryakumar replied to his post saying "And I will miss you".
Surya will not be a part of the three-match series against Afghanistan due to ligament tear.
Rashid then also responded with a post "I'm coming to meet you."
Suryakumar, who led India in the T20Is in South Africa in December, injured his ankle while fielding in the third and final match in Johannesburg. He recently had ankle surgery and is scheduled to return to training in a few months.
India and Afghanistan will kick off on January 11 in Mohali; the second game will be played on January 14 in Indore; and the series will conclude on January 17 in Bengaluru.
The Afghanistan series is India's last bilateral
T20I series
before the T20 World Cup, which starts on June 1.
Suryakumar has been listed among the four nominees for the ICC Men's T20 Cricketer of the Year 2023.
The 33-year-old Indian, a previous winner in 2022, showcased his T20 prowess in 2023, amassing 733 runs from 17 innings at an impressive average of 48.86 and a striking strike rate of 155.95.
