NEW DELHI: Kolkata Knight Riders skipper

Shreyas Iyer

expressed his penchant for thriving under pressure ahead of the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League 2024 season against Punjab Kings on Friday.
Speaking on Star Sports, Iyer said, "I will always have high expectations for my performances. Expectations are necessary because without them, I won't feel the pressure to perform. I personally love and thrive on the pressure to deliver.

I believe that I usually perform when I live in the moment and enjoy the present situation, without dwelling too much on the past or worrying about the future."

The upcoming IPL clash between KKR and PBKS is set to take place at the iconic Eden Gardens. The Kolkata-based franchise appears to be in a confident mood, having secured victories in five out of their last seven IPL matches. In contrast, Punjab Kings find themselves struggling at the ninth position on the IPL points table, with only two wins from eight games.

Shreyas Iyer has been in good form in terms of individual performances, having accumulated 190 runs from seven matches. His crucial 50-run innings against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the previous match played a significant role in the team's victory.

Although he hasn't amassed massive scores on the individual level, Iyer's consistent performances have positively impacted the team's results this season.
Under the guidance of mentor

Gautam Gambhir

, Iyer and his team will be striving to secure a top position in the league stage, with seven matches left to play for two-time IPL champions.
