Gill scored his 3rd Test hundred, making 104 off 147 balls to help India set a 399-run target for England to win the second Test in Visakhapatnam.
He seemed to be smoothly progressing to extend his innings but one bad shot brought an end to his great knock.

about the dismissal at the end of the day's play, Gill disclosed that he would discover his father's reaction to that dismissal upon reaching the hotel. He acknowledged the likelihood of facing criticism for the way he got out.
"I think so. I will get to know once I get back to the hotel, but I think so. He comes for most of my games, there's no such pressure," Gill told JioCinema.
"Definitely pleased but I left a few out there. We could have done with a few more runs," he said.
Gill is confident of an Indian victory in this Test.
"Not an easy wicket to bat on, you have to apply yourself. The ball is turning, hopefully we can get the ball in the right areas tomorrow.
"It's about 70-30 at the moment, the morning session is a big one. We've seen some movement for the fast bowlers, I think if we get the ball in the right areas we'll be okay," Gill said.
England ended at 67 for one at stumps with Crawley and nightwatchman
