NEW DELHI: Riyan Parag put up a stellar show by smashing an unbeaten 84 off 45 balls, steering Rajasthan Royals to a 12-run victory over Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League on Thursday. This marked the second consecutive defeat for
Rishabh Pant
's men.
Parag's onslaught, comprising six sixes and seven boundaries, guided Rajasthan to a formidable total of 185 for 5 after Pant, in his 100th IPL appearance, chose to field after winning the toss.
In response, Delhi Capitals struggled against spinner
Yuzvendra Chahal
(2-19) during the middle overs, ultimately managing 173-5 despite Tristan Stubbs' defiant 44 not out in the dying stages.
Following Delhi Capitals' loss, Pant was spotted sharing a light moment with Rajasthan Royals' spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and the team's fielding coach,
Dishant Yagnik
.
After capturing a few moments with Pant and Chahal, Yagnik humorously remarked, pointing towards the Delhi Capitals skipper, "First he's Rajasthani, then Uttarakhandi."
"Brother, I am an Uttarakhandi first," Pant replied in the video shared by Rajasthan Royals.
"Not your birth, I am talking about cricket," Yagnik said to Pant.
"Yes. In cricket, I am a Rajasthani first," Pant replied.
Pant had shifted to Rajasthan to participate in U-13 and U-15 cricket, but unfortunately, it didn't yield the desired results.
