messages
disappear automatically once they've been viewed, adding an element of

Here’s how to activate and use vanish mode on Instagram
Activating Vanish Mode:
1. Open the Instagram app on your phone or tablet.
2. Tap the message icon in the top right corner.
3. Open an existing chat or start a new one by tapping the "+" icon.
4. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold for a second.
5. You'll see a confirmation message at the top saying "You turned on vanish mode." The background will also change (darker in light mode, lighter in dark mode) to indicate Vanish Mode is active.
Using Vanish Mode:
* Once in Vanish Mode, any messages you send will
disappear
once they're seen by the recipient and you leave the chat.
* You can send text, photos, videos, and even disappearing replies to stories within Vanish Mode.
* If the recipient doesn't open a message before leaving the chat, it will also disappear.
* There's no limit to the number of messages you can send in Vanish Mode.
Important things to remember:
* Screenshots and screen recordings can still capture content in Vanish Mode. Consider this before sharing sensitive information.
* The recipient will be notified if you screenshot or screen record their message.
* Vanish Mode doesn't affect messages sent before it was activated.
Deactivating Vanish Mode:
1. Open the chat where you have Vanish Mode enabled.
2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen again and hold until you see "Release to turn off Vanish Mode."
3. Swipe up completely, and Vanish Mode will be disabled.
