, commonly known as spam. Spam messages can range from annoying advertisements to malicious content aimed at scamming users. Fortunately, Google Messages provides robust tools for users to report and
block spam
. Here's how to do it.
On your Android phone or tablet:
1. Open the Google Messages app.
2. Tap and hold the spam message you want to report.
3. A menu will appear. Tap on "Block &
report spam
".
4. A confirmation pop-up will appear. Tap "OK" to confirm.
On your computer:
1. Open Google Messages for web: https://messages.google.com/web
2. Navigate to the spam message you want to report.
3. Click on the three dots (...) next to the sender's name or profile picture.
4. Select "Block & report spam" from the menu.
5. A confirmation pop-up will appear. Click "OK" to confirm.
Some tips to keep in mind:
* You can also report multiple messages at once. To do this, tap and hold the first message, then tap the checkboxes next to all the other messages you want to report. Finally, tap the three dots (...) in the top right corner and select "Block & report spam".
* Reporting spam helps Google identify and block spammers in the future, making your messaging experience safer and more enjoyable.
* You can unblock a contact if you accidentally reported them as spam. To do this, open the Google Messages app, tap the three dots (...) in the top left corner, and select "Settings" > "Blocked contacts". Then, tap the contact you want to unblock and select "Unblock".
