LONG ISLAND (PIX11) – Summer fun just got a little cheaper in the tri-state area.
The Long Island Rail Road and Metro North will once again have discounts this summer for friends and family to travel together.
Every Saturday between July 6 and August 31, monthly ticket holders will be able to bring along two other travelers for just $1 per person per trip.
And for the ticket holder, the MTA will honor monthly tickets to and from all LIRR and Metro-North stations, regardless of what’s on the actual ticket. Riders cannot, though, use their tickets interchangeably between the two railroads.
“It’s a great way for customers to explore the great trails, museums and more that the Hudson Valley and Connecticut have to offer,” said Metro-North President Catherine Rinaldi. “Bring the whole family on your next Metro-North trip this summer!”
The only exceptions to the discount are: LIRR Montauk Branch trains at 7:13 a.m., 8:13 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. from Jamaica to Montauk; and the 9:27 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma to Greenport.
